Yes — that's a worn balance, the spring mechanism that holds the sash up. We replace the balances so the window stays put wherever you set it.
Do you repair sliding windows too?
Absolutely. Sliding windows use the same rollers, tracks and latches as sliding doors, so they're right in our wheelhouse — sticking, dragging, or won't-lock windows all get the same expert treatment.
Can you fix a window that won't lock?
Yes. We repair or replace worn latches and locks and correct alignment so the window secures properly again — important for both safety and sealing out weather.
Is it worth repairing an old window or should I replace it?
If the frame and glass are sound, repairing the hardware is usually the better value. When glass has failed we can replace just the glass. We'll tell you honestly when full replacement makes more sense.
