Mike saw things differently.
A door that was difficult to open wasn't necessarily a bad door.
Sometimes the rollers underneath it were worn out. Sometimes years of use had damaged the track. Sometimes the panel had dropped slightly and the lock no longer lined up. And sometimes a door that looked like it was ready for replacement still had years of useful life left if the actual problem was repaired correctly.
That became the idea behind the company:

Mike's Early Years in the Business
In the beginning, the operation was much smaller than it is today.
Mike handled the kinds of jobs that many Jacksonville homeowners will recognize immediately: patio doors that took both hands to open, rollers that had stopped rolling, tracks that had been worn down from years of use, handles that had become loose, and doors that would close but no longer lock correctly.
Those early jobs taught Mike an important lesson.

Growing Through Jacksonville One Door at a Time
Sliding Door Repair Jacksonville didn't become a 15-person company overnight. The business grew gradually.

And as Jacksonville continued to grow, the company's service area expanded with it. Tracks can become worn, grooved, dented, corroded or damaged over time. A failing roller can make that damage worse.
Homeowners sometimes notice a bump in exactly the same place every time the door opens. Others see black residue, rough sections or small pieces of metal around the running surface. Those details matter.
The goal isn't simply to make the door move again today. It's to understand what caused the problem so the repair addresses the reason the door stopped moving correctly in the first place.
Locks, Handles and Door Alignment

That's when homeowners start lifting the door, pushing against it or pulling on the handle just to get it locked. Installing another lock without correcting the alignment doesn't necessarily solve that problem.

Sometimes the existing system remains a good candidate for glass or frame repair. Sometimes a complete replacement is the better long-term decision. Our responsibility is to help the homeowner understand which situation they're dealing with.

Jacksonville's Climate Matters
Mike founded the company in Jacksonville, and working here since 2004 has given the team firsthand familiarity with the conditions Northeast Florida doors encounter.
Salt Air. Homes near Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, Atlantic Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, St. Augustine and Amelia Island can experience greater exposure to salt carried through the air. That environment can be hard on bearings, rollers, fasteners and other metal components.
Sand. Windblown sand and grit can accumulate in sliding door tracks. When a heavy glass panel repeatedly rolls across abrasive debris, wear can accelerate.
Humidity. Northeast Florida humidity can contribute to deterioration and corrosion, particularly when hardware is already aging.
Heavy Rain. Florida thunderstorms can reveal problems with weatherstripping, drainage, alignment and installation. Water in the exterior portion of a sill doesn't automatically mean a door has failed. What matters is whether the system is managing and draining that water correctly or allowing it into the home.
These local conditions are another reason Mike believes sliding doors should be evaluated individually. A coastal patio door near the Atlantic may be dealing with very different conditions than a protected door farther inland.
Repair When Repair Makes Sense
This principle goes all the way back to why Mike started the company.
A hard-to-open door isn't automatically a door that needs replacement.
If the overall system remains serviceable, problems involving rollers, tracks, locks, handles, alignment and other components may be repairable.
But the opposite is also important. We aren't interested in repeatedly putting money into a door when the complete system has reached a point where replacement clearly makes more sense.
The objective isn't to repair everything. It isn't to replace everything. It's to recommend the appropriate solution for the door that's actually in front of us.
